We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who wants to solve hard navigation and spatial problems: routing through buildings and complex 3D spaces, fusing sensor and vision data, and delivering guidance people can act on immediately.
What You’ll Build
You may work on systems that:
- Compute routes and navigation guidance through complex 3D environments.
- Model spatial data for buildings, floors, and dynamic environments.
- Combine computer vision and AI/ML outputs with positioning data.
- Distribute spatial updates through event-driven architectures.
- Serve navigation capabilities securely to mobile and web applications.
The Role
You will build Go and C++ services for navigation, routing, and spatial workflows, and design the data models that represent the physical world.
You will collaborate closely with computer vision, AI/ML, and mobile engineers to turn spatial understanding into real-time guidance.
Responsibilities
- Build navigation and routing services in Go and C++.
- Design spatial data models for 3D environments.
- Integrate computer vision and AI/ML pipelines with spatial services.
- Build event-driven systems for live spatial updates.
- Implement authentication and secure access to spatial data.
- Optimize performance and latency for real-time navigation.
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Strong production experience with Go and/or C++.
- Experience with spatial data, routing, graph algorithms, or navigation systems.
- Experience with distributed systems and APIs.
- Strong understanding of performance and data modeling.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D environments, indoor navigation, or SLAM.
- Experience with geospatial databases such as PostGIS.
- Experience integrating computer vision or sensor-fusion pipelines.
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience in defense, public safety, or robotics environments.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $160,000–$225,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Eligible employees may also receive performance bonuses and stock options in addition to base salary.

This is a hybrid role based in Arlington, VA.
