We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys building reliable, high-performance services in C++ and Python and deploying them in modern containerized environments.
What You’ll Build
You may work on systems that:
- Power simulation, modeling, and complex technical software.
- Process large volumes of data with high performance.
- Run reliably in Docker and Kubernetes across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
- Integrate with internal and external systems through clean APIs.
The Role
You will design, build, and deploy backend services and contribute to architecture decisions for government and commercial programs.
You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams to ship production-grade software.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services in C++ and Python.
- Build clean APIs, service interfaces, and backend workflows.
- Containerize and deploy services with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing systems.
- Work with CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and observability tools.
- Follow secure software development practices and maintain documentation.
- Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Strong Linux development and deployment experience.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with simulation, modeling, or high-performance systems.
- Experience with real-time or event-driven architectures.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and DevOps automation.
- Familiarity with ATOs, FedRAMP, STIGs, or DoD security protocols.
- Active or previously held U.S. government security clearance.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $160,000–$225,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Eligible employees may also receive performance bonuses and stock options in addition to base salary.

This is a hybrid role based in Arlington, VA.
